The Covid pandemic has seen many universities adopt hybrid working patterns which have now become permanent. But what does the new hybrid workplace mean for staff?
How best to support employees’ commitment and sense of belonging in the workplace at a time of hybrid work? Can communication professionals help provide support? This is a key issue for organizations to consider because a sense of belonging is significant for employees’ productivity and well-being at work.
Part 1
Speaker
Dr Sari Rajamäki is a researcher in the Department of Language and Communication Studies at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. She will present her research on how employees’ sense of belonging may be affected by hybrid working. ‘I will offer you some recent research findings and raise some questions about what could be done by communication professionals to enable employees to feel that they still belong in the hybrid workplace.’

Following Dr Rajamäki’s presentation of her research, webinar attendees will be invited to ask questions and discuss the issues raised.

John Cavani, Director of Marketing and External Relations at Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK
Both will provide brief overviews of their respective university experiences during the Covid pandemic before inviting webinar attendees to discuss their own experiences and the issues raised.
